8 Reasons to book an October Pod/Touring Holiday

Autumn is a wonderful time to escape to Smytham Holiday Park, for a relaxing pod or touring holiday. With beautiful countryside, plenty of local attractions and the stunning North Devon coast close by, October is the perfect time to enjoy a peaceful break away.

1. Experience North Devon in Autumn

Enjoy the countryside, woodland and changing autumn colours without the busier feel of the summer season. Smytham is set in peaceful countryside near Great Torrington and is around 12 miles from the coast. Local woods to explore can be found just a few miles from Smytham with Halsdon woods, Meeth Quarry nature reserve and Cookworthy woods to name a few.

2. Cosy Glamping Without the Hassle of a Tent

The pods are insulated, double glazed and equipped with heating, lighting, a fridge, kettle and TV and power sockets. Outside you can enjoy your own private space with a gas stove, table and chairs, picnic bench, and a 4-foot-deep covered deck area. Simply bring your usual camping essentials – just leave the tent at home.

3. Perfect Autumn Touring

October is in Smytham’s low-season period until 1st November, with touring pitches starting from £30 per night for a standard pitch. If you’re a cyclist or walker, staying with us is only £12 per person per night.

4. Halloween Fun for October Half Term

In 2026, Smytham’s Walled Garden is tuning into The Pumkpin Patch, with pumpkin carving, spooky slime workshops, a maze, decorations and photo opportunities.

5. An Autumn Trail Around the Park

Couples and families staying during October Half Term can take part in our very own Seasonal Autumn Trail and collect a prize.

6. Cosy Evenings Around a Firepit

This year, Smytham are offering a private autumnal firepit area during October Half Term, complete with seating, fairy lights, logs and marshmallows to toast.

7. Great for Dog-Friendly Autumn Adventures

The park has woodland and open spaces to explore, as well as a dog exercise field and a dog wash to pamper your pooch at the end of your muddy walk.

8. Short Breaks are Possible!

Pods and standard/premium touring and camping pitches don’t have a minimum stay and can start on any day of the week, subject to availability.

With so much to enjoy, October is a fantastic time to escape to North Devon. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful autumn escape or a fun-filled October Half Term, treating yourself to a cosy pod break or a relaxing touring holiday, Smytham has everything you need.
