Best for Cycling Award Winners!

We are very happy and excited to say we have been awarded the Best for Cycling Award in the Top 100 Parks Awards by the Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome Magazines!

At Smytham we have direct access to the 180-mile long Tarka Trail - a famous walking and cycle trail that meanders through the North Devon countryside.

On park we also have a cycle hire where guests staying with us can hire standard and electric adult bikes, children's bikes, child tow-a-longs and trailers, dog trailers and more. You can book your cycle hire with our staff in Reception and they will help you with bike collection and set up on your hire day.

Smytham is visited by many couples, families and groups of friends who are looking for a relaxing holiday but is also visited by those who take cycling a bit more seriously. At Smytham we have a special cyclist rate of £12* per night per person for those who are arriving by bike whilst partaking in challenges such as Devon’s Coast to Coast or Lands End to John O’Groats.

From Smytham you can cycle 1.5 miles south to our nearest cafe at Yarde called Yarde Orchard where you can eat in the cosy cabin or sit out and bask in the sun. If you fancy a highly recommended pub lunch or evening meal then The Bull and Dragon at Meeth is just an 8-mile cycle away.

For a slightly longer cycle to a cafe, you can travel north for 3 miles to The Puffing Billy, a busy café set in the old train station. Here you can view the trains on the tracks and even sometimes see they running and catch a ride. 8 miles north of Smytham is the town of Bideford where there are many options for cafes, pubs and take aways such as fish and chips. Cycling further on from Bideford along the banks of the river Torridge, you will visit Instow where you can access a beach, delicatessens, ice cream vans, cafes, and popular seafood restaurants. Beyond Instow is Fremington Quay, the larger town of Barnstaple and the coastal town of Braunton where there are the massive sand dunes to explore.

If you enjoy a cycling holiday, why not book yours now so you don’t miss out!
